For Ashby, Gardner, Lancaster, Shirley, Sterling, Townsend, Westminster, and Townsend, orders will be completed within 3 business days. I ran out of oil, once you make the delivery will I have heat?
If you have run out of oil you will need to have your heating system "primed" to get the heat back on in your house. We do not offer this service, so you will need to contact your technician who services and cleans your burner to complete this step. We urge everyone not to wait too long to order your oil, some tank's gauges aren't that accurate and running out of oil is always a headache. We tell our customers that between 1/4-3/8 tank is the perfect time to order.
I placed an order online, when will my card be charged?
Our online order form is directly connected to our credit card gateway. As soon as you submit the order, the charge is automatically placed on your card. Shortly after, you will receive an email which will confirm your order and specify what day our delivery will be completed. Please note this is email is sent manually so it may be not be immediate.
How do I order a fill? How do you know how many gallons my tank will take?
If you call in your order over the phone, we will first ask you what your oil gauge reads. From there, we will give you an estimate of how many gallons your tank will take to fill. Much like the pumps at the gas station, an authorization is then placed on your card. After the delivery and your tank is filled we will finalize the sale of that transaction with the amount of oil you received.
More Commonly Asked Questions...
I just bought a house that uses oil for heat, what do I need to know? -Two important things to know are the size of your tank, so you'll know how much oil to order if you don't want a fill, and how to read your tank's gauge.
What size tank do I have? -Most above ground tanks, whether it's in your basement or outside your house, have a capacity of 275 gallons. Check to see if there is a stamp on there like this:
There is a lot of useful information on this label, it will show you the tank's capacity as well as manufactured date. If you can't seem to find this, take a measurement of your tank. 44" high x 60" wide x 27" deep are the dimensions of a standard 275 gallon tank.
How can I tell how much oil is in my tank? -Go take a look at the top of your tank, there will be a gauge similar to this:
- Based on a FULL 275 gallon tank, it will contain roughly 255-260 gallons of oil, this accounts for air and debris settled at the bottom of your tank.
-It's important to check your tank on a weekly basis especially during the cold winter months. Being put on automatic delivery will guarantee oil to always be in your tank. This eliminates having to worry about running out of oil, or constantly checking your tank's gauge.
When should I order oil? - The best time to order oil is when your tank is between a 1/4-3/8. NEVER let your tank run below 1/8 of a tank or you run the risk of running out of oil. Remember, if you need to order less than a "fill" we do offer 100 gallon minimum deliveries to Leominster/Fitchburg/Lunenburg.
Is oil safe? -Oil is considered to be one of the safest methods to heat your home. It cannot explode nor can it reach a temperature hot enough to catch fire. Above that it is the warmest heat out of a vent making it a very safe, quick, cost effective way to heat your house.
